Pre-K Nature Discovery Hour at Camp Saratoga 1/14

Pre-K Nature Discovery Hour at Camp Saratoga is on Monday, January 14th from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.

This monthly program is for the youngest explorers (ages 3-6 years old) at Camp Saratoga (on Scout Road, Parking Lot #1, Scout Road Gansevoort) where they use children’s love of nature to teach simple concepts. Adults are expected to attend. This is an outdoor program so please come dressed for the weather. There will be a short walk, a simple nature craft, and a healthy snack!  Admission is free but registration is required. Call 518-450-0321 for more info and to register.

Lego Night at the Saratoga Springs Public Library 1/8

Lego Night is at the Saratoga Springs Public Library on Tuesday, January 8th from 7-8pm. Children in grades 1-5 should bring your imagination, and they'll provide the Legos! Drop in and make your own creation, check out some of their Lego building books for ideas, or invent your own. Feel free to bring a friend or family member. No registration required.

Story and Craft at Northshire Bookstore 1/11

Northshire Bookstore has partnered with Katrina Trask Nursery School for a special story time once a month! Join them at Northshire at 424 Broadway in Saratoga Springs on Friday, Jan 11th from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. One of the teachers will read a story then make a simple craft with the children.  Free to attend, no registration required!

Breastfeeding Support Group at Saratoga Hospital 1/5

On Saturday, Jan 5th from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM join Kelly Duheme, IBCLC, in collaboration with Saratoga Midwifery, Saratoga OBGYN at Myrtle Street, and Saratoga WIC, for a FREE support group to connect with other breastfeeding mothers at Saratoga Hospital, 211 Church Street Saratoga Springs.

Participants will celebrate successes, share struggles, and offer guidance and support to help both mom and baby throughout their breastfeeding journey. Expectant mothers are encouraged to attend, and the group is open to all mothers regardless of delivery location. Grandmothers and siblings (up to age 5) are also welcome.

Foal Patrol Kids! at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame 12/28

Join the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame for a special family-friendly celebration of Foal Patrol at the Museum and the unveiling of the new Foal Patrol Education Site on Friday, December 28th from 10am to 12pm. Admission is FREE. There will be snacks, giveaways and a variety of fun and educational activities featuring the educational concepts of Foal Patrol. 

Special activities include:

• Guided exploration of the Foal Patrol website on iPads to learn all about the new Foal Patrol educational site including our partner, Godolphin Kids
• FREE Godolphin guides plus coloring and craft project in the Sculpture Gallery 
• Explore interactive stations on horse care, foal naming, and more!
• Meet the REAL miniature horse, Upset and attend the book reading 
• Locate and learn about the farms that will be participating in Foal Patrol season two at the geography and map station
• View a loop of videos on the career paths of horses from our partner, Godolphin in the Hall of Fame Gallery 
• HorsePlay! Gallery: Groom a life-sized horse, explore the many different shoes a Thoroughbred may wear, dress in jockey attire, and investigate objects related to the many careers associated with horse racing
• Learn about the parts of a horse next to our REAL thoroughbred skeleton in the Anatomy Gallery
• Snacks! There will be snack tables with water, carrots, apples, peppermints and granola bars -- snacks fit for a horse!

The Puppet People present "A Christmas Carol" 12/28

On Friday, December 28th bring the kids to the Saratoga Springs Public Library for The Puppet People’s production of A Christmas Carol! A Charles Dickens holiday classic, this show features beautiful handcrafted marionettes, shadow puppets, gorgeous masks, lavish costumes, vivid sets, a professional soundtrack that includes many holiday favorites, and a giant 9-foot parade puppet. Join them for one of two performances at either 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. This program is for ages five and older. FREE tickets are currently available in the Children's Room at the Saratoga Springs Public Library.

Holiday Workshop: Winter Wonderland at The Children's Museum at Saratoga 12/21

With the temperatures dropping, it is time to enjoy the stark beauty of the season by staying warm in the Museum as you enjoy some winter themed activities and crafts! This is a drop in program. This program is for all ages. Friday, December 21st from 10:30-11:30am.

Tooth Fairy Extravaganza at the Saratoga Springs Public Library 12/21

Children, preschool - grade 3 are invited to meet the Tooth Fairy from Dr. Nicole Byrne's Pediatric Dentistry at the Saratoga Springs Public Library for their Tooth Fairy Extravaganza on Friday, December 21st at 10 AM – 12 PM. Children will construct a family tooth box, listen to stories and enjoy some healthy snacks! Participants must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. There are a selection of boxes to choose from, with early birds getting first pick. Feel free to bring your own embellishments. No registration required.

Prenatal Yoga (6 Classes) at Saratoga Hospital Starting Jan. 2

Saratoga Hospital is hosting a six week prenatal yoga class for expectant mothers starting on Wednesday, January 2nd (from 6-7:15pm). Cost is $80.

This class will take place over six consecutive Wednesday evenings: January 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, February 6.

In six 75-minute classes, instructors will guide you through postures which may decrease common pregnancy discomforts, such as back pain, sciatica, carpal tunnel, swelling, anxiety, and fatigue, in addition to stretching and toning muscles used during labor and delivery. Instructors will also focus on meditation, breathing, relaxation, and visualization in preparation for childbirth. Class is suitable for women at any pregnancy stage. Yoga experience is not necessary. Bring a mat, pillow, and blanket to each class.
