A magical forest located at the base of the Adirondacks in upstate New York, Camp Little Notch is situated on 443 acres of pristine wilderness, including an 80-acre private lake providing the perfect setting for outdoor adventure, personal growth, new friendships, and community building.

For 70 years—from 1939 to 2008—the Girl Scouts owned and operated Camp Little Notch as a summer camp for girls. In 2008, the Girl Scout council decided to close the camp and sell the property. Upon learning of the impending sale, an energetic group of former campers and staff—who believed CLN could and should reopen—formed Friends of Camp Little Notch (Friends of CLN). Friends of CLN successfully conserved the property through a relationship with the Open Space Institute (OSI), reopened camp in 2012, and eventually raised enough money to purchase the property from OSI in January 2015.

Camp Little Notch offers an authentic and inspiring wilderness experience for girls! At CLN girls live in harmony with nature, explore the woods and creeks, and practice low-impact camping in a beautiful wilderness setting on the shores of a private lake. Camp Little Notch provides the freedom to create a self-determined experience within a comfortable routine.

Camp Little Notch is a place where all campers can belong!

Campers are grouped by similar age and discover their strengths and unique voices as we support them through the transition to adulthood. Little Notch connects girls of diverse backgrounds with each other, positive mentors, and the land. We provide opportunities to develop responsibility, resourcefulness, wellness, creativity, and teamwork skills. Activities include swimming, canoeing, sailing, team building, ropes course, yoga, creek walks, wildlife observation, hiking, outdoor cooking, arts and crafts, music, overnight camp-outs, and so much more!

After many requests from parents of boys - and the boys themselves - Camp Little Notch has set aside a week for boys to come and explore the woods, waterways and wilderness at Little Notch, and to experience the same great adventures our girls have enjoyed for over 75 years!

Summer Camp for Girls at CLN - July 7-27, 2018

The heart and soul of Little Notch programming is their Summer Camp for Girls, an inspiring and authentic wilderness camp program for girls ages 7-17. Against an unplugged, unhurried backdrop of pristine natural beauty, girls experience the freedom to choose a self-directed program under the guidance of caring counselors. Campers and their parents have told us how much they value the opportunity for a girls-only experience, without the pressures of school, sports and social media. At Little Notch girls have the freedom to be themselves, and everyone's voice is heard.

A Week for Boys at CLN - July 29-August 4, 2018

Our younger brothers, sons, and nephews have been asking us when they can come to camp - and this is the year. We are thrilled to offer a dedicated week of camper-directed, authentic wilderness camping to boys ages 7-17.

As a first time camper, she was able to test her bravery and spread her wings in a place she’d never been, with people she had never met. CLN provided a comfort and peace so that she felt safe to do so.
