8th Annual Strawberry Festival at Rulfs Orchard 6/29

It’s summertime and we all know what that means! Rulf’s Orchard Strawberry Festival!!

Rulfs Orchard would like to invite you to their 8th Annual Strawberry Festival on June 29th, from 10am - 1pm

This event will be located down by the corn maze, as it was last year.

Rulfs will be selling bracelets for access to their different activities for the festival.

The bracelets will both cost $4 and will be different colors, depending on what they give you access to. They will be available ahead of time in our store (to avoid lines the day of the event!) and buying in advance comes with a FREE donut!

$4 PICKING bracelet* -- Will buy 1 quart for u-pick berries!
This bracelet is based on the number of quarts, not who is picking. So if you want to pick 3 quarts you'll need 3 bracelets.

*If you are a "serious" picker (more than 3 or 4 quarts) it might be best to skip the wagon ride and just drive down and pay by the lb!

CVPH June Summer Concert 6/13

Discovering the Ausable: An Aquatic Stewadship Program 7/23-7/27

Discovering the Ausable: An Aquatic Stewardship Program introduces high school aged youth to a broad spectrum of aquatic ecology and watershed stewardship concepts while nurturing a love for the outdoors. We aim to provide a course that is fun, safe, and educational. The program is hosted at ADK’s Education Yurt Village, and students will take day trips to Mirror Lake and the Ausable River to learn paddling and water sampling techniques.

Cost: FREE ($75 App. Fee); includes instruction, transportation during the course, all meals, and use of group equipment (tents, stoves, cook sets, etc.).

2019 Kids Dash: Lake Placid Marathon and Half 6/8

Tie those laces!! Once again Lake Placid Marathon and Half Marathon is offering a free Kids Dash on Saturday, June 8 prior to Marathon Day. Registration will start at 1 p.m. and the race will kick off at 2 p .m. on the Olympic Oval in Lake Placid, kids of all ages are invited to show off their speed and fitness on courses of varying lengths.

Wilmington Whiteface Heritage Festival 6/15

The Wilmington Historical Society is hosting the Wilmington Whiteface Heritage Festival on Saturday, June 15th from 11 am-4pm at Festival Field located at 2 Cunningham Lane (just off Springfield Road) in Wilmington. One of three events happening throughout the day, it is free and the public is encouraged to attend. The Heritage Festival will follow the 3rd annual Whiskey Run event which begins at 9:30am. The final event of the day is a Speakeasy Soiree at Pourman’s Tap House which will take place from 8pm-11pm, also free and open to the public. All 3 events are a benefit for the Wilmington Historical Society which is raising funds for a new history center building.

Dewey Mountain Adventure Club Open House and Registration 6/5

Dewey Mountain Adventure Club is having an Open House and Registration event on Wednesday, June 5th at 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM at Dewey Mountain Recreation Center for boys and girls ages 8-12.

The Dewey Mountain Adventure Club is a youth program sponsored by Dewey Mountain Friends that provides opportunities for a variety of outdoor activities throughout the summer. Designed for kids ages 8-12, the Adventure Club features hiking, rock climbing, paddling, mountain biking, and more. Sessions are led by Chris Morris, a coach with the Dewey Mountain Youth Ski League, and a special guest. In addition to outdoor recreation, each session also includes a short lesson about subjects like Leave No Trace, wilderness rescue, wildlife, and more.

Wednesday, July 3:
Dewey fun day! Meet at Dewey at 9 am; pick-up at 3 pm. Activities include: Capture the flag, hike to the top, falconry demonstration, outdoor rescue demonstration, and more. (minimum 5, no max)

Wednesday, July 10:
Ampersand Mountain hike! Meet at trailhead at 9 am; pickup at 2:30pm. (minimum 5, max 10)

Friday, July 12:
Rock climbing! Meet at Paul Smith’s College gym at 9 am; pick-up at 3 pm. We’ll start on the rock wall inside, then try out the real thing at the PSC Quarry Wall. (minimum 5, max 15)

Wednesday, July 17:
Paddle day! Meet at Pine Street Bridge at 9 am; pick-up at Farm Bridge in Bloomingdale at noon. (minimum 5, max 10)

Friday, July 19:
Saranac Lake day! Meet at Nori’s at 10 am; pick-up at 3 pm. We will walk through the Pines to Baker Mountain, hike Baker, eat lunch at the top, then walk back to town for a visit with Historic Saranac Lake. (min. 5, max 10)

Wednesday, July 31:
Challenge course! Meet at Paul Smith’s College at 9 am; pick-up at 4 pm. We’ll hit the low and high ropes courses all day long. (minimum 5, max 15)

Friday, Aug. 2:
Haystack Mountain hike! Meet at trailhead at 9 am; pick-up at 2 pm. (minimum 5, max 10)

Wednesday, Aug. 7:
More Dewey fun! Meet at Dewey at 9 am; pick-up at 3 pm. Activities include: Mountain biking, games, leave no trace demonstration, and other activities. Dewey will provide mountain bikes for those who don’t own one. (minimum 5, no max)

Friday, Aug. 9:
Mountain bike day! Bloomingdale Bog trip. (minimum 5, max 12)
Wednesday, Aug. 14:
Paddle day! Round the mountain. (minimum 5, max 10)

Saturday, Aug. 17:
Summer Dewey Day! Hiking, biking, fun and games, special guests and more! This will be our wrap up event for a great summer of Dewey Mtn Adventure Club.

COST: $80 for all summer sessions or $10/session

All activities are weather dependent! We won’t cancel for rain, but we will cancel for lightning. We will do our best to notify you the night before, but we all know Adirondack weather can change in an instant, so in some cases we will have to cancel the morning of. Parents are asked to send their kids prepared with a comfortable backpack with water, snacks, and lunch. Also be sure to always bring and extra warm layer (non cotton) and a rain jacket.

Second Sunday Storytime and Crafts for Kids 6/9

On the second Sunday of every month, at 4:00 PM, The Bookstore Plus hosts a themed story & craft hour. All children (especially children at heart) are welcome! Our storyteller reads to the curious listeners and then guides them through a themed, fun craft activity. We provide all the materials needed, for crafts time, at no cost. Join us in our children's section!

Our theme for June is Birthdays and will take place on Sunday, June 9th from 4 PM – 5 PM at The Bookstore Plus, 2491 Main St, Lake Placid.

We will read 10 Rules of The Birthday Wish and  If You Had Your Birthday Party On The Moon.  For our craft, we will make Puffy Paint Cupcakes !  All materials will be provided free of charge.

Outdoor Explorers Summer Sessions for Ages 5-8 at Dewey Mountain Recreation Center

The Outdoor Explorer program at Dewey Mountain Recreation Center aims to instill a love of outdoor activities and physical activity while focusing on the wonders of the outdoor world. This is done through hands-on experiences, discovery, and exploration of the trails at Dewey Mountain. Guided by lovers of the outdoors, children will have the opportunity to learn about and explore wildlife habitat, trees, wildflowers and other plants, bug life, fairy houses and forts, and streams and puddles.  Children ages 5-8 will participate in both outdoor activities and indoor activities and should be prepared to embrace their inner wild child!

The Outdoor Explorer program will be split into four summer sessions. Families will have the opportunity to sign up for individual sessions or all four sessions. 

Children will be required to bring a pack lunch, snack, and water bottle. A suggested clothing and equipment list will be provided to each participant before the start of the program.

Bicycle Rodeo Saranac Lake 8/24

The Saranac Lake Kiwanis Club sponsors the annual FREE Bicycle Rodeo at the Civic Center in Saranac Lake each year. This event is made possible by proceeds of Pat Stratton Memorial Bicycle Ride. Our aim is to help young bike riders get off to a safe and fun start. They will get their helmet fitted, learn rules of the road from the police during a safety course, and get to go through an array obstacles. Children should be accompanied by an adult.

Dust off your tiara, it is time for The Royal Princess Ball!

We cordially invite you to join us in benefit of the Tina LeClair Memorial Foundation at Hotel Saranac in Saranac Lake, which raises money for Adirondack-Area locals fighting cancer, and their families.
