30th Annual Malta Community Day

For 30 years, the Town of Malta has offered this event for friends and neighbors to come together in celebration. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with one another and with local groups such as businesses, non-profits, and service organizations. Movie in the Park: Coco Fri. Sept. 7th

The free family film “Coco” will be shown outdoors in Wiswall Park on Friday, September 7 (rain date September 8) at approximately 8 pm. Admission is free. Wiswall Park is located at 39 Front Street in Ballston Spa. 

Hunt for History and Horses Sept. 15th

Join the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 15th for a unique and family-friendly scavenger hunt at Saratoga Race Course! After the scavenger hunt, there will be pony rides, crafts and refreshments! The scavenger hunt and activities will be followed by free admission for scavenger hunt participants at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame!

Nutcracker Auditions at Proctors Theater with Northeast Ballet

Nutcracker 2018 Auditions will be held on September 8, 2018 at Proctors Theater for Northeast Ballet's performance of The Nutcracker. Anyone can audition, see the age range schedule below for times. 

CHILDREN MUST BE AGE 5 on September 8 to audition and be considered for a role.

12:00 - 1:00 pm Children Roles (ages 5-8)

1:00 - 2:30 pm Children Roles (ages 9-12)

2:30 - 3:30 pm Act 1 Adults

3:30 - 5:00 pm Variations (ages 13 and up) - Ladies, please bring pointe shoes.

Back to School Bash and Craft at the Saratoga Springs Public Library

Come and decorate a small notebook and pen, and create a holder for your books and notebooks using duct tape at the Saratoga Springs Public Library on Wednesday, September 12th from 6 PM – 6:45 PM. Saratoga Grandparents Day is September 9th!

Create lasting memories through activities for all generations to enjoy! The fun-filled afternoon includes carnival style games and treats, face painting, balloon art, a magician, fun photos, and more. This event honors Grandparents and Great-Grandparents by providing an opportunity for families of all ages to spend time together on National Grandparents Day on Sunday, September 9th from 1-4pm at the Saratoga City Center, 522 Broadway in Saratoga Springs.

The admission fee is a suggested donation of $5 per person. The first 250 Grandparents and Great-Grandparents to enter receive a special “Grandparents Giveaway” bag, and have the chance to win door prizes!

All proceeds from this event will benefit The Wesley Community, a non-profit organization located in Saratoga Springs that cares for older adults.

Bike Repair Station Demo at the Saratoga Springs Public Library

Learn how to repair your own bicycle using the Fix-It station with guidance from Bikeatoga volunteers, who will be available from 12:15-1:15 pm on Saturday September 1st and Saturday September 8th to demonstrate the use of the bike repair station on the Henry Street side of the Saratoga Springs Public Library.

Expectant Parent Night at Saratoga Hospital 9/4

Choosing a hospital/provider to deliver your baby is a tough decision, so come join Saratoga Hospital at their Expectant Parent Night and see what they're all about! Taking place on Tuesday, September 4th from 7:30 to 8:30pm, this free class is designed to introduce you to the Women's Health Services Unit, Dr. Jennifer Lefner, Chief of Newborn Medicine, Saratoga Hospital Midwives, and the Myrtle Street Obstetrics & Gynecology Group.

The class will also include an overview of the services available, an introduction to the other classes offered to expectant parents, time for questions, and conclude with a tour of the Maternity Unit. So, whether you're newly expecting, planning to become pregnant soon, or just curious about what we have to offer, come join us and see what we're all about!

Joe the Monkey at Saratoga Springs Public Library 9/11

On Tuesday, September 11 from 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM kids can check out the Joe the Monkey event at the Saratoga Springs Public Library presented by SEFCU. Using the book, "Joe the Monkey Saves for a Goal," by John Lanza, participants will make decisions about how to spend, share, and save money. Following reading and discussion, children ages 5-8 will create their own save jar. New Parent Meetups at Northshire are Back!

Great news! The new parent meetups will resume at Northshire Bookstore on Broadway after their summer hiatus on Thursday, September 6th. This group will meet on regularly on Thursdays (note the new day!) at 10:30 am, and is facilitated by Rebecca Rovner, birth & postpartum doula.

The Sunflower Show with Spring Street Gallery and Pitney Meadows Community Farm

Spring Street Gallery is hosting an open call art show inspired by sunflowers to benefit Pitney Meadows Community Farm!!! This show is open to all who want to submit Ready-to-Hang artwork inspired by sunflowers. 

How to take part?

VISIT Pitney Meadows Community Farm at 223 West Avenue in Saratoga, across from the YMCA, to see rows and rows of sunflowers for inspiration! 

CREATE a project inspired by sunflowers.

Slime Story Time at Northshire Bookstore

Join Northshire Bookstore for a special story time & slime activity with Samantha Cotterill, the illustrator of "Once Upon a Slime" on Friday, August 31st at 10:30am! 

In this clever new picture book whodunnit, young detectives can look for clues and solve the mystery of who's sliming favorite fairytale characters. This book is positively oozing with slapstick wit and charm.

Butterfly Walk at Saratoga Spa State Park Aug 24

Summer is a time of fun in the sun, but it’s also a prime time to spot beautiful butterflies in flight! Join Saratoga Spa State Park on Aug 24 at 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM for an educational walk through the Karner management area to learn more about the federally endangered Karner blue butterfly and state-threatened Frosted elfin, their ecology and relationship to wild lupine, as well as how the butterflies and their habitat are monitored and managed. NatureFest at Moreau Lake State Park
