Family Saturday: Prayer Flags 4/6

Join the Tang Teaching Museum and Gallery at Skidmore College on Saturday, April 6, at 2:00 pm for Family Saturday: Prayer Flags. Inspired by Tibetan prayer flags, we will think about what messages we would want to spread across the globe. Using stamps, ink, markers, collage, paper and yarn, we will create our own prayer flags then string them together to make them ready to hang!

Family Saturdays foster multigenerational creative collaboration through looking at artwork in our galleries, discussing and sharing ideas, and engaging in a hands-on art activity inspired by those conversations.

All programs run from 2:00 to 3:30 PM and are free and open to the public, and suitable for children ages 5 and older, accompanied by their adult companions.

Bunny Brunch at Malta Branch Saratoga Regional YMCA 4/13

Join us at the Malta Branch of the Saratoga Regional YMCA for our first annual Bunny Brunch on Saturday April 13th from 9-11am!! The Easter Bunny will be here to visit and take photos and create a fun egg hunt for all ages. We will have bags here for the children to decorate prior to heading out for their egg hunt

Ages 2 and Under will go from 9:30-10am
Ages 3-6 will go from 10-10:30am
Ages 6 and Up will go from 10:30am-11am

Spa City Farmers' Market Easter Egg Hunt 4/14

Mark you calendars for the Spa City Farmers' Market Easter Egg Hunt, on April 14th, beginning at 12pm! Children from ages 1 to 12 are welcome to participate in this fun quest. Limit of 7 eggs each, so there is enough for everyone. There also will be a fun and festive craft with the Enchanted Sisters !

Sunday, April 14th from 12 PM – 1 PM. Spa City Farmers Market is located at Saratoga Spa State Park, 65 South Broadway, Saratoga Springs.

Little Folks Show with Red Canna at Caffe Lena 4/6

Introduce your child to the joy of classical & jazz music with the warm and lively Red Canna at this special concert at Caffe Lena on Saturday, April 6th from 3 PM – 4 PM. We'll interweave fun, interactive opportunities and super hero theme songs with our Red Canna repertoire, which features original compositions as well as those of modern masters. The audience will be introduced to some basic concepts of composition--including working with imagery, mood, and creating from experience and inspiration!
The musicians will take time to demonstrate the unique voice of each instrument and allow the children to get up close and see how the music is made.

Along with Woodbury Kasius, the group features the stunning violin of Mitsuko Suzuki of the Albany Symphony, heralded jazz mainstay Bobby Kendall on upright bass, and dynamic vocalist Shari Seidman Parslow.

Childbirth Preparation Series at Saratoga Hospital (Starts 4/4)

Childbirth Preparation is a four-class series designed to educate expectant parents on their options during pregnancy, labor, and delivery starting on April 4th from 7-9pm at Saratoga Hospital. We will discuss having a healthy pregnancy, the work of labor and birth, coping with labor, options for medications and other interventions, being an active participant in your care, the role of the birth partner, and the first 48 hours after birth. The series will include discussions, films, hands-on opportunities, and a tour of Saratoga Hospital's Labor & Delivery Unit. This class will take place over four consecutive Thursday evenings: April 4, 11, 18, 25. Cost is $75. Registration is required. Become a Junior Dinosaur Expert for Dino Roar Valley!

Is your child a dinosaur expert? Dino Roar Valley and WMHT Public Media are on the search for a Junior Dinosaur Expert! Whether it be the T. rex or the Stegosaurus, does your child know it all? How big they were? What they ate? Where they lived? How fast did they run?

HOW TO ENTER:

• Step 1: Create a :60 or less video of your child sharing all that her or she knows and loves about dinosaurs.

• Step 2: Fill in your details and upload your video in the form below.

• Step 3: Share the contest details with your friends!

The contest winner will become an official Junior Dino Roar Valley Ambassador and be filmed and featured in professional video. In the video, the ambassador will deliver an official Dino Roar Valley welcome message that will be played in front of all park attendees at the expedition basecamp during the 2019 season. The ambassador will also be welcomed back to at any time to share fun dinosaur facts and encourage all explorers to have a dino-riffic time!

Horse Explorers is a weekly program held at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame on Thursdays and led by the Museum's educators. Each week covers interactive, horse-related topics in art, literacy, science and math. It is recommended for ages 3-6 years old. Childrens' Storytime Yoga at the Saratoga Springs Public Library starting 3/26

Children ages 4-6 are welcome to join yoga teacher Sami Gowan as she explores yoga postures through story and song. Age appropriate yoga postures, breath and concepts will be discussed. Astronomy Party at Wilton Wildlife Preserve and Park 3/29

Join Wilton Wildlife Preserve and Park and volunteers from the Adirondack Skywatchers and the Albany Area Amateur Astronomers, Inc. to study the night sky in all of its beauty at their Astronomy Party on Friday, March 29th from 7:30-9pm. There will be telescopes available and experts will be on hand to share their knowledge of the night sky.
