Join our RagTag group of thread-barren, yarn-spinning characters around the fire as they explore a new patchwork world. You'll be entwined with our group of mismatched artists as they stitch together a tapestry of talents: from high-flying, knot-tying, gravity defying aerialists, to loopy jugglers, to musicians that pull your heart strings, and comedy that leaves you in stitches. Where’s Waldo? In Downtown Saratoga Springs of course! The famous children’s book character in the striped shirt and black-rimmed specs will be hiding in local businesses and community organizations throughout our downtown this July. Join in Northshire Bookstore’s fun scavenger hunt and win great prizes! Starting Monday, July 1st at 10:00am and ending Wednesday, July 31st at 9:00pm.
Stop by Northshire Bookstore on Broadway in Saratoga Springs to pick up your passport and begin the search. The first 125 participants to find at least ten of the Waldos hiding around town will win a button and a coupon for $1 off any Where's Waldo Book. Find at least 15 Waldos to be entered in the grand prize drawing, which includes many great Waldo prizes.
Where’s Waldo is the creation of Martin Handford, whose entertaining drawings of crowd scenes swept the world in the late eighties. In celebration of Waldo’s longevity and popularity, his American publisher, Candlewick Press, is once again teaming up with the American Booksellers Association and 250 independent bookstores all across the country for some scavenger hunt fun as well as to encourage communities to patronize their local businesses.

The 3rd Annual BIG Bubble Party is on Friday, June 28th from 1-3pm and we can’t wait to kick off summer with everyone! Above see the schedule for the party, and here are some FAQs about the BIG Bubble Party, we hope to see you at Congress Park tomorrow!
Mini Bubble giveaways and carousel token giveaways start at 1pm at the Mini City table and will be given away on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. Face painting will also be done at the Mini City table until 1:45.
We hope you also bring your own bubbles, bubble wands, bubble machines and any other fun bubble making creations to add to the fun, especially during the Bubble Flash Mob at 2pm.
A “Bubble Flash Mob” is simple, we all gather in the middle of the park at 2pm, crank up the music, and count to 3 when we all blow bubbles at the same time, creating the biggest bubbles we can.
Right after the Bubble Flash Mob, the Dance Lab will lead kids in a special game of Freeze Dance.
Throughout the event you can visit the sponsor tables which will all have giveaways and/or free activities for kids. This event is for all ages, but most activities will be geared toward children 10 and under.
Food is not sold at the event but you are welcome to bring your own.
You are also welcome to bring any outdoor games, kites, etc to have fun with in the park, it’s going to be a beautiful day!
This event is RAIN OR SHINE, and will only be cancelled in case of thunder and lightning. There is no rain date if the event is canceled.
Saratoga County 4-H is proud to announce its flagship program “Camp Wild” for this summer. “Camp Wild” is designed to provide summer camps in Saratoga County with off-site Enrichment Experiences. Three carefully cultivated, educational sessions will be held at the 4-H Training Center on Middleline Road in Ballston Spa. They will give campers hands on learning practice. Children will fish, hike, and learn outdoor skills such as identification of indigenous plants and animals, basic first aid, and survival skills for when things in nature don’t go quite as planned. “Camp Wild” will also offer families, of all kinds, five chances to participate in guided hikes at five different areas throughout Saratoga County. This is a perfect opportunity for parents looking for support and encouragement on living a more outdoor focused lifestyle.
“I want to give kids and families a truly authentic natural experience. The kind of life we had before technology took over; the way I grew up. We are so blessed to have access to the 4-H Training Center and the vast array of natural tools it provides. I am grateful for the opportunity to bring this program to such a beautiful outdoor space” says Andrea Love Smith, Camp Director and 4-H Outreach Educator.

The 4-H Training Center is like nothing else in the area. There are hiking trails with a special one just for Bluebird watching, a small fishing pond, a fire pit and so much more. It is the perfect setting to spearhead this new platform. This fully immersive educational experience will go on to highlight someof the community’s most serene locations, providing ideal backdrops for the perfect outdoor family day.
The first Summer Camp Enrichment Experience will be held July 10th. Five more dates will be available for campers. Camp directors should contact Cornell Cooperative Extension as soon as possible. Space is limited and expected to fill quickly. Payment of $5/ camper is required at the time of reservation.
Family hikes begin July 9th and, again, space is limited with reservations necessary. It is $3/ child and $5/ adults. Payment required at the time of reservation.

Watch the fireworks at Saratoga Lake! The annual Saratoga Lake Fireworks show will take place on July 3rd at Brown's Beach. It's recommended to arrive early as parking is limited and traffic will be heavy. The fireworks typically begin around dusk. Celebrate 4th of July in downtown Saratoga Springs!
Saratoga's 2019 All-American Celebration will begin on July 4th with the Firecracker 4 Road Race, a four-mile road race through Saratoga Springs
NEW this year, the Annual Citizenship Ceremony at the Saratoga National Historical Park will be live-streamed for everyone to watch at 10:00 a.m., inside the Saratoga Springs City Center or on your own computer, cell phone or other mobile device.
During the day, local retailers will be taking part in a special Independence Week celebration inviting people to shop local and to support local independent store owners. Local restaurants will also offer a range of “All American” Meal deals.
Everyone is invited to purchase an official Saratoga All American Celebration t-shirt at Impressions of Saratoga and Dark Horse Saratoga, both on Broadway, now through July 5th. Proceeds from the sale of these t-shirts will help to fund the fireworks and entertainment. The Chamber is urging people to buy these patriotic t-shirts before Independence Day and to wear them on July 4th.
The main event will take place that night in historic Congress Park. Starting at 6:30 p.m., the Audiostars will perform live outside of the Canfield Casino.
At approximately 9:15 p.m., Benjamin Franklin will come on stage to read the Declaration of Independence. This special presentation will be followed by a spectacular fireworks display!

The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College announces its Summer 2019 Family Saturdays, a series of multigenerational creative collaborations on each Saturday from July 13 through August 10.
Each program includes looking at artwork in the museum’s summer exhibitions, discussing and sharing ideas, and engaging in a hands-on art activity inspired by those conversations. The summer exhibitions include Streb Action, Elevator Music 39: Bug, Beauty and Bite, and Ree Morton: The Plant That Heals May Also Poison. The free programs run from 2:00 to 3:30 PM and are suitable for children ages 5 and older, accompanied by their adult companions.
Registration is required. You can register beginning one week before each program. To register, call the Tang’s Visitors Services Desk at 518-580-8080. The Tang welcome visitors of all abilities. Be prepared to get messy and have fun!

July 13: Superhuman Shields!
After exploring Streb Action and the message of overcoming one’s fears and finding our own strengths, we will create our own superhuman shields that celebrate the different kinds of strengths that we have all have the power to activate in ourselves!
July 20: Connecting Sound, Color and Movement
For our Elevator Music 39: Bug, we will discover how our sense of sound and color can be closely linked through a digital application called Bug. “Bug turns what you see into pure color, and color into music.” We will go explore the colors and sounds of our environment and then create our own sound by combining a wide range of colored papers and patterns. Be prepared to discover your own symphony of color and sounds!
July 27: Funky Storyboards
After looking at the whimsical Frank Moore works on paper based on Moore and Jim Self’s film and ballet Beehive, we will create our own storyboard inspired by these funky works! Materials include poster board, stamping, markers, felt, and an assortment of specialty papers.
August 3: Out of This World!
Come and explore works in our Tang collection of outer space and works that are inspired by the universe! We will create our own cosmic arworks out of paper, model magic, cardboard, metallic markers, felt, and more.
August 10: What a Relief!
After looking at works by Ree Morton, whose prolific career spanned a wide range of mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation, we will create our own wild multimedia relief using cardboard, model magic, felt, yarn, specialty papers, markers, and found objects.

Here at Mini City we are BIG champions of Mom Run Businesses (maybe because we are one ourselves?) and over the years we have profiled some amazing moms who run their own businesses and we want to keep that train going with a regular monthly feature on local moms as part of our Mom Boss Profiles.
We are looking for mothers who run their own businesses, either from home or outside the home, and all working moms who would like to share their experience with juggling the demands of motherhood with their working life.
Simply fill out the form below, and we will reach out via email if you are chosen to be the featured profile that month. We ask that only the person who wants to be featured fill the form out, no nominations (in case the person you are nominating isn’t interested in being featured). If you know someone who you think would love to be featured, just send them a link to this form!
Once we have chosen a mom for that month we will reach out via email and put together a featured profile story that will be featured in that month’s Mini City Magazine as well as here on the website and across our social media channels.
Don’t sweat it, since we can only feature one person per month, we will create a waitlist of upcoming features. If you apply and don’t hear back right away that just means that we are working through our list on a first come, first served basis. Our features will also have a local, small business focus. We are so grateful for all of the submissions and will make time and room to feature everyone as it comes available.

The Power of Produce Club for Kids (POP Club) is back at the Saratoga Farmers’ Market (High Rock Park in Saratoga Springs) for their 4th season thanks to the support of the Christopher Dailey Foundation! POP Club is a free 12-week program held on Wednesdays at the farmers' market. Children may show up any time between 3-6 pm to participate in a fun, educational activity. Children who participate are given a $2 POP coin to spend on fresh fruit and vegetables at the market, and they will earn a stamp in their POP Passport (4 stamps = a prize!). POP Club will begin on Wed, June 26 and will run through Wed, September 11. This season, the market will have an incredible lineup of activities offered by a variety of hosts. It's all about farm, food, and nutrition education for all ages and abilities! Behold the power of produce!
