Family Saturday at the Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College

Join the Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College on Saturday, November 5, at 2 pm, for Family Saturday: Embroidered Notes! After visiting Lotus Shoes: Stories between Stitches, participants are invited to create and decorate their own felt envelopes.

Family Saturday programs foster multigenerational creative cooperation through looking at artwork, discussing it, and engaging in a hands-on art-making activity. Programs run from 2-3:30 pm and include a tour of selected works. All programs are free and open to the public, and suitable for children age 5 and older, accompanied by their adult companions. Family Saturday–Celebration Weekend Drop-In Art-Making

Join the Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery on Saturday, October 15, from 2-3:30 pm, for a special Family Saturday–Celebration Weekend Drop-In Art-Making: Celestial Collages! Inspired by selected works in Parallax: Framing the Cosmos, participants are invited to create their own space-inspired spirograph collages.

Family Saturdays foster multigenerational creative cooperation through looking at artwork, discussing it, and engaging in a hands-on art activity. Most programs run from 2:00 – 3:30 pm and include a tour of a specific exhibition. All programs are free and open to the public, and suitable for children age 5 and older, accompanied by their adult companions. Materials are provided.

Why Do Leaves Change Colors? at Moreau Lake State Park

Sunday, October 9th at 12pm at Moreau Lake State Park. In this program for elementary school aged children we‘ll discuss the science behind the changing colors of deciduous leaves and have an activity to aid in understanding. Weather permitting, we’ll take a walk to see the display here in our park. The cost is $1 per child, this can be paid in cash or by check at the office upon arrival. Jump Into Fall with Pitney Meadows and the Waldorf School

Jump Into Fall on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at Pitney Meadows Community Farm is a family celebration of the season to benefit both the Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs and Pitney Meadows Community Farm. There’s no time like the present to be outside – it’s good for the spirit and an essential part of both the Waldorf & Pitney experience.

Join for interactive activities for children, music & stories throughout the day, sheep shearing, a drum circle to join in, a scavenger hunt through the farm woods, and so much more!! Healthy snacks from some local restaurants, and lots of wonderful like-minded businesses will join us!

Wiggly Wanderers at Moreau Lake State Park

Wiggly wanderers is a new program at Moreau Lake State Park that is offered to walking toddlers, carriable babies and their caregivers. This will be a beginner’s hike/wander series for toddlers who are ready to move and caregivers who are willing and able to baby wear and/or carry their toddler if their legs get too tired. We will not plan too much distance walking and we will rely on teachable moments to carry us through these experiences. Strollers will not work for these programs. While you do not need to attend each week, we will continue to build our toddlers hiking skills as well as their caregivers' confidence taking the children into the woods to explore. This program has limited sign up available, please pre-register. Call 518-917-2174. Fee is 1$ per child. The program will take place on the following dates:

Fall Fest and the Great Saratoga Pumpkin Hunt

The first day of Fall is coming up and the Downtown Business Association is preparing for our annual FALL FEST including The Great Saratoga Pumpkin Hunt.


The Great Saratoga Pumpkin Hunt is a two-week Fall-Themed scavenger hunt that starts October 15th adandn goes through October 30th. The winner will be chosen on Halloween. FALL FEST is scheduled for Saturday, October 22nd. There will be trick or treating downtown from 12-4pm and an additional evening event from 6-8pm. Stay tuned for more details here.

Leaf Scavenger Hunt and Mobile Craft

Celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day and explore Congress Park, site of the original Saratoga Native American encampment over 100 years ago. Meet at the Carousel at Congress Park where Environmental Educators from Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park will lead a leaf scavenger hunt. Afterwards, kids will use some of the leaves collected to construct a mobile to take home and hang as a welcoming symbol. For ages 5-12 with an accompanying adult. Kids Fishing Clinic at Moreau Lake State Park 7/11

Events to a T and the Charles R. Wood Theater present Frozen Family Fun! The event will take place in Glens Falls City Park on Friday, July 8th, 2022 from 11 am to 2 pm. The event is hosted in collaboration with Broadway Upstate and Cardinale’s Car Care. The event is free to attend!

Beat the Heat with the Ice Queen and enjoy photo opportunities with the Ice Queen herself and friends! Events To a T will host a bounce house and face painting with all proceeds benefiting the Charles R. Wood Theater! Free lemonade and treats will be provided along with surprise performances and a ticket giveaway to attend Frozen Jr. Attendees can also hear the exciting lineup announcement for this year’s Outdoor Cinema which kicks off Friday, July 8 at dusk in Glens Falls, City Park, and continues every Friday in July and August.

Kids Story Time at Moreau Lake State Park 7/1

Head to the nature center at Moreau Lake State Park every weekend in July for kid’s story time! We will read a nature themed book about a different animal we have in the nature center. This event is free with paid vehicle entry free and open to all. There are no registrations required. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 1pm.

Ballston Spa Movies in the Park: Encanto 7/1

The popular free outdoor Movies in the Park are back in Ballston Spa! Films will be screened on summer First Fridays in Wiswall Park, with the back up location being Iron Spring Park. This event regularly draws families from Ballston Spa and neighboring communities. Check out the following movie dates: July 1 (Rain date July 2)—Encanto, August 5 (Rain date August 6)—Sing 2.
Movies start at dusk (approximately 8:30-8:45 pm), with rain dates on the following Saturdays.
The movies are free to the public.

Celebrate with the Saratoga Famers’ Market!

Celebrate the end of school and the beginning of summer with the Saratoga Famers’ Market! On Wednesday, June 29, 3-6 pm at High Rock Park, children and families are invited to a FREE concert by Jack & Steve Zucchini and lots of free, fun activities and food tastings. The Saratoga Springs Public Library will have a free butterfly craft. There will be free face painting by Artsy Fartsy Face Paint. Jodie Fitz will be here with her book Fidget Plants a pizza garden and kids can plant their own pizza garden at the POP Club tent! At POP Club, kids will receive a $2 POP coin and their first stamp on their POP Passport! It's their 7th season of POP Club and they are so grateful for the support from The Christopher Dailey Foundation. This event is rain or shine!
