Eagle Island Camp

Upper Saranac Lake in New York eagleisland.org

In everything Eagle Island does, we believe in inspiring and empowering young people to be confident, collaborative, and courageous.

A Children’s Camp in the Heart of the Adirondacks

Built as one of the finest Great Camps of its day in a classic Adirondack style, Eagle Island has been home to summer camp programs for over 80 years. Today, Eagle Island is run as a private non-profit offering a variety of youth and family camps throughout the summer. Located on its own 31-acre private island on Upper Saranac Lake, participants have a unique opportunity to unplug and reconnect with the natural world in the heart of the Adirondacks.

An Active Day of Outdoor Exploration, Education, & Fun

Daily camp activities include open waterfront time (free swim, kayaking, canoeing, games, and more), swim lessons, STEM-inspired outdoor education, camper-choice activities, and camper-led play in the Peninsula (an open space for campers to explore and use their imaginations). Other activities offered include nature education, team-building, crafts, and traditional camp survival skills like fire-building and shelter-building.

Eagle Island Camp believes that the summer camp experience should serve as an extension of each camper’s education; a high emphasis is placed on hands-on activities geared toward fostering each individual’s unique skills and abilities.

Small group sizes ensure that Eagle Island Staff get to know each camper, helping to create programming that fits their interests and needs for a memorable and transformative summer camp experience.

Camp Activities

Regardless of program session, all campers have the opportunity to try a variety of camp activities including swimming, paddling, nature exploration, arts and crafts, teamwork development,  camper-led play, and community building. In the afternoons, campers focus on their program’s focus activities.
