Jumper Bean is a New York State licensed facility. Here at Jumper Bean we have created an environment where children feel safe, eat well balanced organic meals, are encouraged to play, stay active, and learn about the environment. We are a place where parents can feel confident that their child is safe, and learning both developmental and fundamental skills for life.
Encouragement, staying positive, learning to play with others and creativeness are all aspects of the Jumper Bean program. Our goals are to provoke learning and healthy living at all stages of your child’s development.
Jumper Bean believes in hands on learning. Our program focuses all lessons on the four major areas of development; social/emotional, language/literacy, physical (fine and gross motor) and cognitive. Weekly themes are incorporated into all areas of the classrooms to extend learning throughout the day. Teachers work with each child based on their abilities to meet their individual goals. With classes offered for children ages 3-5yrs and a teacher to child ratio of 7:1 in our 3’s class and 8:1 in our 4 & 5’s class, at Jumper Bean we are all about hands on learning.
A typical day at Jumper Bean Preschool for our students consists of a play based learning environment rich in both indoor and outdoor experiences. Children are encouraged from the moment they walk through the door to explore the classroom learning centers and expand their knowledge through weekly themes that are carried throughout all areas of the classroom environment. We come together for a morning circle time to sing songs and welcome everyone to start our day.
We enjoy healthy organic meals together and build friendships through conversation. We provide many learning centers throughout the classroom environment that foster learning and promote development. Children are encouraged to explore each learning center throughout classroom and move freely from one area to the next. Each learning center will have new items based on weekly themes and will promote various skills and concepts.
Teachers will work closely with children in all areas of the classroom to help introduce new concepts and encourage children through positive praise. We extend our learning environment outside through daily outside experiences.
Children are encouraged to be active through play. We offer many opportunities throughout the day for music and movement both in large group activities and small group activities as well as during transitions throughout the day. We spend time throughout the day reading books in our classroom and engaging in class jobs. Children are encouraged throughout the day to be creative and to ask questions to further their knowledge.
Outdoor time is a must! Children go out in the morning and again in the afternoon. Children can run in the spacious grass yard, tend to garden beds or play on the large wooden castle playground.
What sets Jumper Bean apart is our small setting and our “like home” preschool space. Parents knowing that their children are in great hands, happy, learning, playing outside and building relationships with caregivers in a friendly setting. Their child is eating healthy by our program belonging to local CSA’s for meat, vegetables and dairy.
