We are committed to providing a quality education in the Montessori tradition. With a community of parents, teachers, and students, we try to instill a love of learning, sense of wonder, respect for others and the environment, while at the same time encouraging imagination and independence.

The Malta Montessori School was established in 2006 and currently enrolls children from the ages of 15 months to 9 years for children between Toddler Class and 3rd Grade. The school is located conveniently right off of Interstate 87 at exit 12 making it easily accessible for parents from the Clifton Park, Ballston Spa, Burnt-Hills, Ballston Lake, Stillwater, Malta, and Saratoga areas.

Forest Kindergarteners participate in circle time, cultivating an intimacy with language and improving their balance and fine and gross motor development.

We strive to provide a beautiful, stimulating, caring and enriching learning environment where children have every opportunity to learn to the best of their abilities. Potential parents can call or email to set up an appointment and come see first-hand how the Montessori philosophy and methodology of education provides a unique hands-on learning experience.

In our Children’s House classrooms (aka early-childhood), the students begin their day at 8:30 AM and have what we call a Morning Work-cycle (work/school time) where they may choose materials that they have received lessons on, from the various shelves around the classroom, to use. Our Morning work-cycle lasts until about 11:00 AM.

During the morning the students work and may choose and help themselves to a snack and they may also have a beginning and ending circle meetings where they sing songs, talk about the weather and calendar, play rhythm games, read stories, count together, etc. The students may go for a nature walk or other outside activities and then they enjoy outside time on our playground until 12:00 NOON.

The children who are in school for only a half-day are dismissed from the playground and the remaining children go back to their classroom to eat lunch. After lunch, they read a story, and engage in an afternoon work-cycle. At 2:30 PM, the work-cycle ends for the day and the children go outside to play again where they are picked up by their parents.

In our Toddler classrooms the ratio is about 1:4 and in our Children’s House and Elementary classrooms, the ratio is about 1:9. We have plenty of opportunities for our students to be outside (even on rainy days). We have a covered walkway to go for walks in the rain. We have a fenced in playground. We have a paved area where on occasion students can ride scooters and tricycles etc. and in the warmer weather the students can have their yoga and movement classes outdoors. We also have a flat area of grass where our Tae Kwan Do teacher is able to work outside with the children.

We do not have any Open Houses scheduled, but if interested, parents may call 518.633.1971 and schedule a tour of the school. We would be more than happy to show them around and talk about Montessori.
