You Otter Run/Walk 5k 6/22
Join The Wild Center for their first annual You Otter Run/Walk 5k. Get your otter whiskers and then follow Ollie the Otter through Tupper Lake.
First, second and third place prizes will be awarded, but all participants will receive a medal. Race participants can check in starting at 8:00 in the main parking lot of The Wild Center, the race starts at 9:00 am.
Funds raised through this run will go towards supporting the North American River Otters that call The Wild Center home. Online registration closes on Friday, June 21st at 6:00 pm ($20 ages 5-14, $30 ages 15+). Day of registration is $40 per registrant (may not include a t-shirt).

Friday Night Stargazing at the Observatory 6/22 (date updated)
Looks like a cloudy night tonight so postponing the Star gazing until Saturday night 6/22.
The Adirondack Sky Center is going to roll the roof off and show you the stars and planets through their professional grade telescopes, and with guidance from our astronomers, on Fridays in the Summer.
Weather Permitting, it all starts around 30 minutes after sundown. Free for Members and Children under 12; Non-members $3 / person.

Northern Light School’s Magic Garden Summer Camp for Children Ages 3-5
Join Northern Light School this summer for fun and adventure. The camp is inspired by nature! Magic Garden and is a summer program for children ages 3-5 with a balance of active free play and peaceful, structured group activities, both indoors and outdoors. With loving care, the teachers use natural materials, poetry, song and stories to spark the imagination and foster a lifelong love of learning.

Introduction to Hiking With Kids 6/23
Would you love to start hiking with your kids but don’t know how to start? Are you intimidated by trying to decide where to go, what to bring, or what to expect? Are you an experienced hiker but would like to meet other families who hike with their kids as well? Join the Park Naturalist and representatives from Hike It Baby Adirondack Coast for a group discussion about the pleasures and perils of hiking with young children, then we’ll head out for a short hike together! Topics may include mid-trail meltdowns, the vital importance of snacks, potty training in the woods, and more! There will also be some baby carriers available to try out or to borrow for the hike – first come, first served. All ages welcome!

*There is always an alternative, indoor back-up plan for outdoor programs and that is available in case of bad weather! Come anyway, there will always be something to do and to learn!
*Our nature programs are always open to children and adults of all abilities, and all programs can be adapted to accommodate participants with disabilities or specific needs. Please contact the Park Naturalist with any concerns.

Farm-to-Table Cooking Class 7/17
AdkAction is excited to announce their second annual cooking class series. Join them for a FREE cooking class taught by the Carriage House Cooking School on July 17th, from 5-7pm at the Keeseville Pharmacy. Summer is almost here and we have the perfect event for you!
Plattsburgh's Police Department Community Center, The Strand Theatre, YMCA, Plattsburgh Public Library, and the First Presbyterian Church have teamed up to bring you a fun, family-friendly event to celebrate the start of the summer season.
Food, drinks, games, music, arts & crafts and entertainment will take place at each of the places listed above. The best part - it's free!! Plus, the event will conclude with the movie, "School of Rock" at the Strand Theatre.
There will also be a child's bicycle and family fun cooler raffled off thanks to Walmart. Other sponsors include Pepsi, Market32 and Friehofer.

Youth: Landscape Painting 6/23-6/29
View Adirondack mountains and lakes through a creative lens in our weeklong exploration with brush and paint. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, the instructors will guide you through the techniques and skills you need to take your artistic work to the next level. Each day will include exposure to a new medium, allowing you to gain familiarity and comfort with a broad range of skills while adding diversity to your artistic portfolio. Try your hand at watercolor, oil, and acrylic painting in a variety of unique outdoor settings.
Painting workshops will be interspersed with a range of other activities around the RockE House & mountain campus. Hike up to a mountain view, take canoes onto the lake, help cook meals, and lend a hand on the farm.
Students will share rooms in our lakeside Eileen Rockefeller House and enjoy fresh meals prepared using ingredients from our farm. For ages 12 -17.

Wilmington Whiteface Heritage Festival 6/15
The Wilmington Historical Society is hosting the Wilmington Whiteface Heritage Festival on Saturday, June 15th from 11 am-4pm at Festival Field located at 2 Cunningham Lane (just off Springfield Road) in Wilmington. One of three events happening throughout the day, it is free and the public is encouraged to attend. The Heritage Festival will follow the 3rd annual Whiskey Run event which begins at 9:30am. The final event of the day is a Speakeasy Soiree at Pourman’s Tap House which will take place from 8pm-11pm, also free and open to the public. All 3 events are a benefit for the Wilmington Historical Society which is raising funds for a new history center building.
Youth Programs: Orienteering & Survival Skills 6/16
Ages 8 - 11
Dates: June 16th - 22nd, 2019
Spend a week exploring the woods and learning basic survival and navigation skills through a range of fun, hands-on activities. Learn how to read a map and compass, then use your new skills to follow scavenger hunt clues around our campus property. Each search will end with a fun surprise! Along the way, you’ll learn how to safely start a fire and build a fort from natural materials; what to do if you ever get lost in the woods; and how to identify some safe, edible plants.
Orienteering activities will be interspersed with a range of other activities around our mountain campus. Hike up to a mountain view, take canoes onto the lake, help cook meals, and lend a hand on the farm.
For five nights of the program, students will share rooms in our lakeside Eileen Rockefeller House and enjoy fresh meals prepared using ingredients from our farm. The remaining night will be spent camping in our forest, where you can put your newfound skills to test!
Tuition: $940 for overnight program. $445/week for day programming only (includes lunch).
