Kids and families are challenged to think in design terms. What does this invention need to do? How can I build it so it does that AND stays together? Throughout the process kids and their parents tap into their critical thinking skills! These programs are drop-in, families with children ages 4 and up. Free with museum admission.
Tuesday, February 20th: Makedo Cardboard Construction – Have you ever dreamed of building forts, boats or whatever your heart desires with cardboard? Join us and do just that with Makedo. It’s a simple to use, open-ended system of tools for creative cardboard construction. Join us for this fun and exciting workshop in which you can build whatever you can dream!
Wednesday, February 21st: Straw Construction – Become an Inventor or engineer by joining us for an exciting workshop of inventing and designing using straws and Strawbees connectors. Strawbees are colorful, key-shaped bits of recycled plastic designed to link straws together to create three-dimensional structures. Each piece has a notched flat end, which you can insert into a quarter-inch plastic straw, and a circular head, which acts as a connector and pivot point for multiple straws and pieces. Come and create with us!
Friday, February 23rd: Roller Coasters – Join us for a fun filled workshop in which we will build roller coasters out of Styrofoam pipe insulation and discuss the science and engineering of roller coasters.
