Puppet Pandemonium with the Puppet People

Puppet Pandemonium with the Puppet People is on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 4:00 PM - 4:45 PM at the Schuylerville Public Library.

An outrageously funny original variety show with a zany cast of sixteen puppets!  40 minutes of fun including a boy named Dude, a royal disaster, and a western melodrama.  Audience participation encouraged.  Fun for the whole family! Click here to register.

Karner Blue Butterfly Walks

The endangered Karner blue butterfly has two broods every year. The first brood emerges in late May and the second brood in early July. On a guided walk through the meadows at Wilton Wildlife Park and Preserve (these walks are located at Old Gick Farm, 4402 NY-50 Saratoga Springs), learn about the Saratoga Sandplains ecosystem on which this animal thrives, and how it became endangered. Registration is required via their website at wiltonpreserve.org or by calling the office at 518-450-0321.

Congress Park Vendor & Craft Festival

Head to Congress Park on Tuesdays from July 25, 2023-August 29, 2023 for the 2nd Annual Congress Park Vendor & Craft Festival! Vendors will be located in Saratoga Springs Congress Park behind the historical Carousel. Pets ARE permitted! There will be face painting for the kids, fresh lemonade and much more! 

Knee-High Naturalists at Moreau Lake State Park Tuesday, Jul 25, 2023 9:00 AM

Geared toward children aged 2-5, (siblings welcome) Knee-high Naturalist is a fun introduction to nature. Meet in the Nature Center at Moreau Lake State Park where they begin by reading a nature-themed book or two and then take a short walk together outdoors, keeping our eyes open for animal tracks, shells, feathers and other signs of the natural world around us. Dress for the weather. Reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance. The cost is $1 per child, payable by cash or check at the office upon your arrival. Saratoga Regional YMCA Healthy Kids Day 2023

Healthy Kids Day 2023 will be held at the Saratoga Regional YMCA Saratoga Springs Branch on Saturday, May 20th from 11am - 2pm!

Healthy Kids Day is the Y's national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids and families in our community.

This event is FREE and open to the public, aimed to inspire kids and families to keep their minds and bodies active throughout the summer months and beyond!

Healthy Kids Day activities will include:

The Adirondack Vets House, Inc., built in 2000, is a 501 c (3) Non- Profit longer term facility for homeless veterans located in Glens Falls, New York. Within the last few years, the Adirondack Vets House, Inc. has expanded their program to include permanent housing for Veterans and their family, as well as an outreach program that assists Veterans with food, furniture, support, both physical and mental.

Fields of violet lupine flowers and fluttering Karner blue butterflies set the stage for visitors to explore and support the Albany Pine Bush Preserve and its partners. The Annual Cantina Kids Fun Run

Families will return to Congress Park June 4 for the annual Cantina Kids Fun Run to support children’s health care at Saratoga Hospital. The Fun Run made its debut in 2008 and has become a family favorite, attracting hundreds of children and parents, rain or shine. Together, they’ve raised over $756,000 to help provide equipment, education and other services that enhance pediatric care at Saratoga Hospital.

 The race starts at 9 a.m. Early-bird registration is $15 through May 18. Pre-registration, for $20, will continue through May 31. Race-day registration is $25.

 Event details:

  • Date, time and place: June 4 at 9 a.m. in Congress Park, near the Carousel.

  • Run as a family: Strollers are welcome.

  • Pre-registration: Online now through May 31 at noon. Pre-registered runners can pick up race packets in advance on June 3, from 9 a.m. to noon in Congress Park, near the Carousel.

  • Race-day registration: June 4, 8-8:30 a.m. in Congress Park, near the Carousel.

  • Two courses: Quarter mile recommended for kids seven and under or one mile recommended for kids 8-12.

  • Medals: For all runners up to age 12. Trophies to the top three boys and girls on each course. “Healthiest School” award to the school with the highest participation.

Check out the Little Folks Series: Folk Talk Trio at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs on Saturday May 6th 3-4:40pm. International folk troubadour Rik Palieri, CMA award-winning California songwriter and singer Patti Shannon and Vermont-based topical Americana songwriter Jason Baker have joined together to create a high energy show filled with the sound of 6 & 12 string guitar, banjo, bass, harmonica, ukulele and Native American flute on some folk classics while accompanying each other on their original songs. Together they create a fun atmosphere that celebrates folk traditions and encourages audience participation. Come sing along with them for an afternoon of fun! Tickets are FREE and can be reserved here.

Sunnyside's Make It For Mom 2023 Event

Looking for a gift to give Mom on Mother's Day?

Bring your Mom or Dad to the annual "Make It for Mom" kids event at Sunnyside Gardens where you'll design and plant a beautiful container garden to give to Mom on Mother's Day.

Sunnyside Gardens will help you plant it and then take care of it for you for the week, making sure it will grow big and beautiful!

Then all you have to do is come back to pick it up on Saturday May 13th or Sunday May 14th. (Earlier pick up also available).

There will be two options to choose from with their reservation window. Both days you can reserve your time frame of 10am-12pm or 1pm-3pm. Reservations are required to get an idea of the number of pots needed for this event.

Sunnyside Gardens will provide the pot, soil, plants, fun pick, and fertilizer! All you have to do is put it all together and we keep it watered for her! Then you have a beautiful pot all summer long!

Family Saturday at the the Tang Teaching and Art Gallery

Join the Tang Teaching and Art Gallery at Skidmore College on Saturday, April 15, at 2 pm, for Family Saturday: Decorating Frames! After viewing photographs in the Tang collection by artist Malick Sidibé, with painted glass frames by Checkna Touré, participants will take Polaroid pictures and create their own decorative frames.

Family Saturday programs foster multigenerational creative cooperation through looking at artwork, discussing it, and engaging in a hands-on art-making activity. Programs run from 2-3:30 pm and include a tour of selected works. All programs are free and open to the public, and suitable for children age 5 and older, accompanied by their adult companions. No registration required; supplies provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
