10 am to 12:30 pm Tuesday, July 11, to Friday, July 14: Children’s Art Workshop: Ignite creativity!
Pose questions, imagine possibilities and brainstorm solutions. Ages 6-12 are invited to join Hyde educators in our Creative Genius Workshop. We will explore creative thinking strategies that artists and other creative minds use to generate ideas, improvise, and create masterpieces. RSVP, space is limited. Daily participants are encouraged to RSVP but will registered first-come, first-serve after full week registration. Full Week Rate: $60 members/ $80 non-members; Daily Rate: $20 members/$25 non-members
10:30 am to 12:30 pm Tuesday, July 18 to August 29: SmART Series
Why does the line in this artwork feel like it is moving? Why does pattern sometimes mess with my eyes? Why do open spaces make me feel alone? Become SmART in art with this creative summer series and have your art questions answered. Each session will investigate a creative concepts of Modern art to explore how Contemporary artists express their ideas and pose questions. Participants will build their art vocabulary by creating a different fun artwork each week. Appropriate for ages 6 and older. RSVP preferred, drop-in participants welcome.
Second Sundays in July and August will feature Family Day activities! All ages are welcome to join the Museum Education team in a creative group art making activity. Everyone will play a role in creating a vibrant artwork that will be exhibited in the Rotunda Gallery at The Hyde Collection. Learn about the art of Ellsworth Kelly in a fun and accessible way. From 1 to 4 pm, a drop-in art program will be offered. On July 9, the topic will be Ellsworth Kelly: Slow Curve. Learn about color, shape, and collage. We will create patterned artworks made from the initial form of a circle to complete a paper wall mural on display in the Rotunda Gallery. Artwork will be returned to the families following the conclusion of the display.
