Saratoga Spa State Park Fish Stocking POSTPONED

This year's Fish Stocking event at Saratoga Spa State Park has been postponed to Wednesday, April 18th due to icy conditions along the banks of Geyser Creek. This decision was made with the safety of patrons, volunteers and staff in mind. While this pushes the event off of Spring Break week, the public is still welcome to attend on the 18th. They will be offering family friendly events at the Creekside Classroom during break...please keep checking their facebook page for more info! 

Family Saturday: Let's Spin!

Head to the Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College on April 7 for Family Saturday: Let's Spin! After spending time in Rose Ocean: Living with Duchamp, we will make experimental art using Spirographs to create countless amazing designs inspired by Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray's Rotary Demisphere.

Family Saturdays foster multigenerational creative cooperation through looking at artwork, discussing it, and engaging in a hands-on art activity. Most programs run from 2:00 – 3:30 pm and include a tour of a specific exhibition.

All programs are free and open to the public, and suitable for children ages 5 and older, accompanied by their adult companions. Materials are provided. Reservations are required—for additional information and reservations, call the Tang’s Visitor Service Desk at 518-580-8080.

Family Friendly Bark up a Tree

Bring the whole family on this 2-3-mile dog friendly hike at Moreau Lake State Park on Friday, April 6th from 11pm - 12:30pm. Please make sure your dog is well behaved and leashed. We will start at the office. Trail subject to change according to weather and trail conditions. Please call to reserve your spot 24-hour advanced notice at 518-793-0511. Program fees apply.

3rd Annual Spring Festival at the Saratoga Farmers' Market

It's a celebration of spring at the Saratoga Farmers' Market! On March 31, 9 am to 1 pm, enjoy workshops, family activities, and delicious local food that celebrates spring. This event and the workshops are free for all ages and open to the community with no registration required.

10-11 A.M., Making the Most of Your CSA with Justine Denison of Denison Farm, featuring live cooking by Anouk Booneman

FREE Activities for Children & Families:
The Friends of the Market has the perfect spring activity planned... make an eggshell seed starter! Eggshells offer calcium and minerals to growing plants and can be transplanted right in the ground.
Our friends from the Children's Museum at Saratoga will have lots Legos with them on Saturday for children to make their own Lego planters! Activities are appropriate for children of all ages and abilities. 

Trees and Their Bark at the Saratoga Springs Public Library

On Monday, April 2nd from 11am to 12:30 head to the Saratoga Springs Library for this fun environmental event. For children ages 3-9, accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Meet in the Crawshaw Story Room where Environmental Educators from Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park will give a briefing on trees and their bark. The group will walk to Congress Park where we will identify trees and collect nature items to make a twig vase. Please bring a small jar for each child. Register in the Children's Room or by calling 518-584-7860 ext 305. 

Bilingual Story Time & Art Activity with Camila Hurst at Northshire Bookstore

Join author Camila Hurst as she shares her charming new picture book "The Little Bird in a Cage" in both English and Portuguese and a fun art activity inspired by the book at Northshire Bookstore on Friday, April 6th at 10:30am. No previous foreign language experience is necessary. 

This book tells the story of a boy and his pet bird who learn a valuable lesson about freedom and friendship.

Northshire Bookstore is located at 424 Broadway in Saratoga Springs, no registration necessary. Free and open to the public. 

The Egg Drop Challenge at The Children's Museum at Saratoga

Gathering all pint size engineers to put their thinking caps on! Let’s work together to construct a device using limited materials that can save an egg from breaking when dropped from an elevated surface.

The Egg Drop Challenge at The Children's Museum at Saratoga is taking place on Wednesday, April 4 at 2 PM - 4 PM. This program is open for all ages and free with museum admission. Join in for a smashing good time!

Story Time & Seed Planting at Northshire Bookstore

Join author, cook, and Kids Cooking Club leader Jodie Fitz to celebrate her picture book "Fidget Plants a Pizza Garden" at Northshire Bookstore in Saratoga Springs on Wednesday, April 4th at 10:30am.  After sharing her charming new picture book, the author will help children plant seeds to take home for their own Pizza gardens!

In this new picture book, Fidget is very excited about growing her very own pizza garden. As the tomato plants ripen, Fidget is surprised to learn that her garden doesn't actually grow pizza. Find out what happens in Fidget's pizza garden & then plant and grow your own pizza garden at home. Fidget shares her family's recipes & tools so that you can have your own pizza growing fun.

Kids Days at the Saratoga Automobile Museum

Kids Day from 11am-4pm on April 5th & 6th is a free event at the Saratoga Automobile Museum that will keep your kids busy with crafts, games, stories, STEM activities and a scavenger hunt with a punch pinata. Foal Patrol Kids Event Thurs April 5th

The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will play host to a special family-friendly event in celebration of Foal Patrol on Thursday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event is free to attend and everyone will receive a complimentary copy of the Museum’s new Foal Patrol Coloring Book, which features artwork by Sharon Crute.

In addition to the unveiling of the Foal Patrol Coloring Book, there will be various fun and educational activities for children, including interactive opportunities to explore the Museum’s Foal Patrol website via iPads and high-definition televisions in the Museum lobby.

There will also be complimentary food and drink and giveaways. All guests in attendance are also encouraged to explore the Museum and its many exhibits, including the Hall of Fame.

“We hope families join us at the Museum to learn more about Foal Patrol and all of its entertaining and educational aspects,” said Cathy Marino, director of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. “The Museum has been thrilled to work with a great artist in Sharon Crute in developing the Foal Patrol Coloring Book and we’re excited to share it with everyone. This promises to be a fun event and we look forward to showing off all of the wonderful things both the Museum and Foal Patrol offer.”

April Fool's Day Hike

Check out this family friendly hike around the lake at Moreau Lake State Park on Monday, April 2 at 11 AM - 1 PM as they stop to discuss different ways animals “trick” their predators from finding or eating them. Some animals camouflage, while others are poisonous, or maybe they mimic other, scarier animals. There is even a native to the park that likes to play dead! Please call the office to make reservations, 518-793-0511. Meet at the park office where you will pay for the event. Adults are $2, children and seniors are $1.

The Great Schuylerville Egg Hunt

Did you hear? The Great Schuylerville Egg Hunt is ON and it is happening this Saturday, Mar 31st from 11am to 12pm at the Schuylerville High School Turf Field, 14 Spring Street in Schuylerville.

Admission is FREE (rain location is the high school gym).

There will be 10,000 eggs to find! The schedule is as follows:

• 11:00am - Birth to 3 years
• 11:15am - Ages 4-5 years
• 11:30am - Ages 6-7 years
• 11:45am - Ages 8-11 years
• NOON - Adult Egg Race
