You and Me Wheel (Ages 2-4 + A Parent!)

Prepare to get messy in this exciting sensory experience for your toddler!  In this class, you'll create a one-of-a-kind collaborative piece of pottery on the wheel with your little one.  This on-hour class (perfect for short attention spans) will pair grown-up and toddler (Ages 2-4) together as they make a piece of pottery and paint it together.  Finished pieces will be ready to pick up in 2-3 weeks.

Annual Festival of Colors 9/14

FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY at The Annual Festival of Colors!

This hometown festival is held in the center of Wilmington, New York, at Festival Park.

The event features numerous local artists, farmers, bakers, crafters, and more. The day kicks off with a live children’s comedy routine performed by our favorite clown and her assistants. Then make way for live music. Other items throughout the day include arts demonstrations, food vendors, and many children’s activities.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The festival will take place at the tee-ball field on Springfield Road in Wilmington.

Heritage Fair 8/17

The annual Heritage Fair is August 17, 10am- 2pm at The History Museum (242 Station Street, Lake Placid).

Browse the used book sale, grab a tasty treat at the bake sale, enjoy live music, and check out the silent auction! There will also be a flea market, children's activities, food by Dacy Meadow Farms, and fun for the whole family!

If you are interested in donating used books, baked goods, or flea market items, all donations may be dropped off at the History Museum during regular museum hours (10am-4pm, Wednesday through Sunday). Baked goods may be dropped off the morning of the Heritage Fair (9:30-10:00am).

All funds raised help support public programming and the preservation of the The History Museum.

MONDAY STORYTIME!! 8/12

Monday Storytime, The theme is Trucks!

The Bookstore Plus will be hosting a weekly Summer Storytime and craft hour for children on Mondays at 10 AM at the store from July 8th - August 26th, 2019. All children (especially children at heart) are welcome! The storyteller reads to the curious listeners and then guides them through a themed, fun craft activity. They provide all the materials needed, for crafts time, at no cost. Join The Bookstore Plus in the children's section!

Monday, August 12th, our storyteller will read "Bedtime for Little Bulldozer", "Big Frank's Firetruck, and Little Blue Truck". Storytime is geared towards children ages 3 and up, but all children are welcome!

They will not have a craft today but a visit from Lake Placid's Fire Department! A Fire Truck will be visiting!

Butterfly Festival 8/17

Join VIC and Adirondack Park Institute staff (API--Friends group to the VIC) for a repeat celebration of last year's party celebrating all things butterfly! Our native species Butterfly House Coordinator will be on hand to answer your questions, family-friendly games and activities will be set up in the butterfly field and our summer interns, staff and volunteers will be available to discuss our pollinator gardens.

Open House 8/10

The North Country SPCA Annual Open House will take place August 10, 2019 from 10am-2pm. This free event will have a craft fair, food and drink available for purchase, face painting and a bouncy house, NYS Police Canine Demos, the Essex County Animal Rescue Van, free adoptions for adult animals pending approval of application, micro chipping ($20), nail clipping and rabies clinic ($5 suggested donation for each). This event is free with services and items available for purchase and donation.

Summer Fun Photography for Kids Workshop 8/3

The Summer Fun Photography Workshop offers young photographers a chance to learn something new about taking pictures, explore the streets and nature of Saranac Lake, collage in their own photo-journals, and have fun developing observational skills like recognizing patterns and making comparisons, while cultivating self-expression and forming new friendships. Big Latch On 8/3

Breastfeeding women and their families are invited to participate in The Big Latch On planned for Saturday, August 3 at 10:30 am on the front lawn of CVPH. Sponsored by the Alice T. Miner Women and Children's Center, the Plattsburgh Big Latch On is part of a world-wide effort to promote breastfeeding as a healthy start for babies. Any and all breastfeeding and breast milk fed families are welcome to attend.

Registration takes place between 9:30 - 10 am. Mothers and babies should be settled on the front lawn by 10 am. The official latch (or flange) and counting will begin at 10:30 am. Infants drinking
expressed breast milk from a bottle will also be part of the official count.

Ample parking will be available in the Medical Office Building lot, off the Cornelia Street entrance. A blanket or lawn chair is recommended. In case of rain, the event will be held in the hospital’s Main Lobby.

Free Morning Children's Concert 8/2

"Meet the Orchestra" A Free Morning Concert Sponsored by Stewart's Shops! An hour set aside for children with the Lake Placid Sinfonietta under the direction of Maestro Peter Rubardt. Kids will be able to sit close enough to see the musicians making the music and have a chance to talk and ask questions. Filled with music that is familiar and kid friendly, yet pleasing for their adult companions!
