I’m so excited to announce the newest Mini City region, Mini City ADKs, especially since my good friend Amanda Kelly is taking the helm for this region! Amanda and I have known each other for nearly 20 years now after going to college together (and meeting while we both played women’s rugby, yes really) and she is one of the bubbliest, most upbeat people I know, she always puts a smile on my face and her enthusiasm and love for where she lives is contagious. Mini City: Tell us about your family and where you live…
Amanda: Me, my husband Jim and daughter Lilliana live in Wilmington, New York along with our dog Lucy, a few chickens and several thousand bees.
What do you love about where you live?
Where to begin... I moved here from Manhattan to get away from the city and city life so I have to say the thing I love most about living here is being able to be in nature and be outdoors. I don't have to drive 2 hours out of the big city just to go for a little hike. I can just walk out my front door and bam the mountains are right there. In the summer we hike and swim and in the winter we snowboard and ski. Another major thing I love about living up here is the small community life.
What are some of your favorite local things to do with your daughter?
We often go down to a little park by the River where my daughter gets to play and then we can go swimming or just walk down by the river. In the summer time we also love going to the Farmers Market in Keene.
What is your favorite mom accessory or must have?
I am very minimalist on accessories and mom accessories but I always have a wet wipe on hand and a few lollypops just in case..
Favorite children’s book?
Pout Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen. This book is a must at bedtime and everyone gets big smooches at the end.
Favorite thing to do when you have a quiet minute to yourself?
I enjoy going for runs when I have well a little more then a few minutes. If I just have a good 10 mins by myself I normally will get a hot cup of coffee and put on a facemask and just relax and enjoy the quiet.
